i think this question is more about approximation and finding the order of the no. rather than complete calculations, so i think it would be  30 feet.... |dw:1332444011600:dw|

so the area of the octagon will be slightly larger than the area of the dotted circle which has a radius 3. so the answer should be a lil more than 9pi, which is abou 28.5, so, "30 square feet" suits the best.
