The midpoint formula is \[M = (\frac{x_1 + x_2}{2}, \frac{y_1 + y_2}{2});~given~endpoints~(x_1,y_1) ~and~(x_2,y_2) \] We don't know one of the endpoints, but we do know what the x and y values will be when we use this formula, so we can solve for each endpoint.
