how do u solve a limit question when the denominator is 0?

OpenStudy (across):

This depends heavily on what is in the numerator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, often that is why they like you to simplify your expressions by factoring the numerator and denominator. If you can cancel common factors from the numerator and denominator your simplified function will have a "hole" in it but you will have a limit. if nothing cancels then you'll probably have a vertical asymptote in which case no limit.
