Anyone know of a good online source regarding how Laplace used integral transforms as a means to make his life easier? Moreso the development of it than the actual applications.

I seem to have to dredge thru countless sites of how to apply integral transforms but none that actual give any insight as to who thought that they would work to begin with.

I know Euler had something akin to it; and I read someplace that Laplace found the notion of it intriguing.

Laplace seems to have only liked math so far as it helped him to do his nature things tho
