Directrix (directrix):

How did you get from x^2-5x+7=0 to your final answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5±√-25-28 _______________ 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5±√-3 ___________ 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5/2 ± √3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the i at the end because its an imiganiry number

Directrix (directrix):

5 ± i √3 ___________ 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah ok i was writing in a different form I was writing in a+bi form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yours is right though, this problem isnt requiring that

Directrix (directrix):

It's good to get in the a+bi form habit. 5/2 ± (√3/2) i Be sure that the i does not appear to be under the radical symbol because i and square root of i are not the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah ok. Yea this problem isnt specifying form but Im going to do in a+bi form to prevent mistakes
