. If you think the final answer is correct, mark "yes." If you think the final answer is incorrect, mark "no.4(x + 2) - 3(x - 5) ANSWER: x + 23 Yes No"

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

what do you think?

OpenStudy (eyust707):

distribute the 4 and distribute the -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

it is Yes!! oops.. simplifying the equation will give you x+23. so... its right.. innit?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 4(x + 2)=12 and 3(x - 5)=12 then add it up and got 24

OpenStudy (phi):

you can not ignore the x. x's are very important. You have to keep track of the x's and the numbers separately... If you have 1x and a 2 and you get another x and a 1 then you have 2x +1+2 or 2x+3

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

those are two different things.. here you are adding up 2 'equations'.. up there you are simplifying an 'expression'!!
