OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the equation of the graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (amistre64):

x-h means we move right of the origin by h that tells me its either 2 or 4

OpenStudy (amistre64):

in other words, since we are to the right of the origin by 1.5; then we have to have an x-1.5 in the eq

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and we appear to be up from the origin; so we prolly want a + tag on the end; so im gonna guess at 4

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i believe most of your problem is that you are playing on a mac computer :)

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

hey amistre64, is it ok to try like this? Put x=0 in the four equations, and see for which a real value equal to 2 or 4 comes out. Because the graph has a real y-intercept.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i see 3 might be an option, i couldnt see the innards clearly

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you can, but since we are playing in tan i think trying to solve might be harder in general

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i think 3 is out since we get a tan pi/2 at x=0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lol, now i know im looking at the way to hard

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

oh sorry i meant it doesn't intersect x=1.5. so x=1.5 should give an unreal solution.

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

So the answer is 4, I guess?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

right, so at x=0 #3 is bad; so im back to my #4 gut chk to begin with :)

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The period is 2 so it has to be either 2 or 4 and it certainly can't be 2 so it is 4.
