what elements want to gain or loose electrons and why? is there a way I can tell by looking at the periodic table of elements? thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CRAP im on math sorry!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look to the noble gasese, they are called noble becase they are netural. Whats so special about them (about how many electrons they have)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm, so what your saying is that elements on the farthest side of the periodic table of elements want to attract elements on the farthest side relative to it? like a rubber band wanting to come together, but that seems a little wrong because you just told me that noble gases are neutral, meaning that they don't want electrons, if they do not want electrons that means that they have a full electron shield ( something I don't have much grasp of yet.) so...to get to understand what I think i need to understand I need work on that.... OK, thanks I understand it allot more now.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If the outer shell is nearly "full" or just has 1 or 2 electrons in it.
