Find the rate of change for 2000 to 2010 given these ordered pairs in the data set: (2000, 286) and (2010, 192). Write your answer as a decimal. A. -0.94 B. -9.4 C. -94 D. -940

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

as 'y' changes by 192-286, i.e. 106, x changes by 2010-2000, i.e. 10. so find out change in y, per change in x. what do you think the answer would be? calculate, post and verify!

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

sorry sorry sorry... y changes by "-106". NOT '106'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@apoorvk: 192-286 = -94, not -106 So relating y to x you'd get -94 / 10 = -9.4, right?

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

okay.. my bad.. i think i am very woozy tonight (MISTAKES TWICE IN THE SAME CALCULATION, HUH????). yeah @jerico you did it right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@apoorvk: Never mind, your proposal was just right. Calc errors don't count. ;-)

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

they do buddy, they do.. (in fact the kinda exams like multiple-choice ones... its calc that matters a lot. the examiner wont have a dream that i had "divine intentions"!)
