1000e^.03= 2000

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

i guess 'e' isnt that constant with value 2.71 in here.. so.. take 1000 to rhs and divide 2000. next take log. and get the answer, which you post and verify!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You're missing a variable somewhere...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where at?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

where is 'x'?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and e is the constant value of 2.71.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes i know, e is not the variable

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its solving for how long it takes 1000 to double at a constant rate of 3%

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

y = P*e^(0.03t) 2000 = 1000*e^(0.03t) 2000/1000 = e^(0.03t) 2 = e^(0.03t) ln(2) = 0.03t ln(2)/0.03 = t 23.1049 = t t = 23.1049 So it will take approximately 23.1049 years
