How many solutions does this system of equations have? x+y= -4 x -y= 0

myininaya (myininaya):

@algebra21 Try solving the second equation for either x or y (doesn't matter which-you pick!) Then substitute that in the first equation (you will only have one variable to deal with then in that equation)

myininaya (myininaya):

oh number of solutions easier! lol

myininaya (myininaya):

well we know this isn't the same line!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

their would be none numbers of solutions correct??

myininaya (myininaya):

same line => infinitely many solutions (which we don't have) parallel lines=> no solution (which we don't have) Any other=we have one solution

myininaya (myininaya):

Do we have parallel lines?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no we dont

myininaya (myininaya):

Then the answer is not no solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then the answer would be one solution correct?

myininaya (myininaya):

right! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol i like how u explain things .are u a teacher?

myininaya (myininaya):

oh no you found me out lol

myininaya (myininaya):

*hides*

myininaya (myininaya):

jk

OpenStudy (anonymous):
