Gandhi was disappointed with the prevailing racism at that time. The main victims of this racial policy were his fellow Indians. He did not protest at first, but after being thrown out of a train for being black(even though he had a first class compartment ticket), he vowed to fight against racism.
This was the time during which he developed his methods of protest through non-violence and disobedience. He went to jail, only to win the support of his masses.

actually Gandhi's experience in south Africa made him fight for them in both in south Africa and in India from 1917-1947.many restrictions were imposed on the Indian like they were not allowed to go out at night after certain time.ill treatment of Indians in south Africa through racism was another experience...i agree with the film Gandhi,you must see it...
