Which of the following equations represents a line parallel to 4x - y = -5? Question 2 options: 8x - 2y = -10 4x + y = -2 4x - y = 2 2x - 1/2y = -5/2

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

same thing....??? check which has similar (ax+by) part... should be C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It should be d

OpenStudy (radar):

Arrange the equation in slope intercept form: y=4x+5 Slope is +4 so the parallel line must have a slope of 4. The first equation is an identity and is the same line. The second equation can be rearranged and the slope is y=-4x-2 slope is not the same. third equation is y=4x-2. It's slope is a +4 and it is parallel Fourth line is 1/2y=2x+5/2 multiply this by 2 and get y=4x+5 Not that this too is an identity, and is the same line that is in the problem. This leaves the third one as the best answer.
