HELP! whats an angle bisector and perpendicular bisector?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

an angle bisector splits up an angle into two angles of equal measure. each angle's measure is half the measure of the original angle. a perpendicular bisector is a line, segment, or ray that pass through the midpoint of segment at an angle of 90 degrees

OpenStudy (sarahc):

so the perpendicular bisector divides the triangle in half?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it depends on the triangle...|dw:1332732688528:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

notice BD is a perpendicular bisector of AC and it does divide the triangle into two congruent triangles. But EF is also a perpendicular bisector but it doesn't cut the triangle "in half"

Okay. thank you for your help!
