If I were to roll a one 6 sided die and one 4 sided die, what would be the probability that I roll doubles? Thanks in advance :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean by doubles? you mean same outcome?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, by doubles I mean same outcome.

Directrix (directrix):

Assumption: the die with six faces is the standard number cube and that the tetrahedral die has faces numbered 1, 2, 3, 4. There are 6 outcomes for tossing the cube and 4 for the tetrahedron. That gives 6*4 = 24 possible outcomes for tossing the pair. Of those, doubles are (1,1); (2,2); (3,3),and (4,4). P(doubles) = 4/24 or 1/6.
