no, think about the greek: zoo-plankton (ζῴον-πλαγκτός) or (zoon-planktos) meaning animal-wanderer whereas: phytoplankton phyto-plankton (φυτόν - πλαγκτός) or (phyton-planktos) meaning plant-wander plants do photosynthesis--where as animals do not, so phytoplankton (plant-plankton) do the photosythesis, where as the zooplankton (animal-plankton) do not.
