Are there any punctuation errors in the following sentences? (The parenthesis and comma are confusing to me) - Cats are not the only mammals that experience hair balls. A human can form a hair ball (known as a trichobezoar), and they can cause abdominal obstruction.
Np there are no punctuation errors in here, everything i see looks just fine.
In the third sentence the syntax is wrong in that the "they" (which is supposed to refer to hair ball) reads as if it refers to humans. Better would be "A human can form a hair ball, which can cause abdominal obstruction."
I would omit the parenthesis altogether. Cats are not the only mammals that experience trichobezoars, or hair balls. A human can also form a hair ball, and it can cause an abdominal obstruction.
