the discriminant (b^2 -4ac) isn't a whole square (but will be '0' if that '-49' in the question is a '+49'.
any ways if you notice your answer is in the form of (a+b)(a-b) which if you have learnt, simplifies to ---> a^2 - b^2

I have no idea what Algebra-I consists of! (but I 'll take it its pretty elementary for now)
now.. are you sure the question you posted is right?? if yes, do you want to learn the quadratic formula because otherwise this thing is not factorisable!
