Who invented the English language?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No one person "invented" the English language - it developed from regional differences in other languages over time. English contains many words with roots in Dutch, German, French, Norman, and Latin and Greek. What probably happened is that as people colonized Great Britain, the geographical isolation of that country allowed it to develop a separate dialect, which eventually became a new language.

The Angles and the Saxons used what we know as Olde English. With a heavy German influence, all of the other Romance languages were mingled in. And lately, the last hundred years or so, lots and lots of foreign words and terms and completely new words for the new technology.
