what if the sun were to suddenly disappear?, would the planets immediately change orbits or would there be some delay before the change in gravity affected them one by one?.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there a speed at which gravity happens, or does it always exist wherever there is a mass? At first guess I'd say immediatly..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I like this question...gotta say it for later and ask some profs..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the gravity would dissappear so the planets would go off in tangents?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I've figured it out by stating that gravity has a speed and it is that of the speed of light

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah so the earth wouldn't go off on its tangent until that 8 minutes after the sun dissappeared is up
