slope is rise over run, so given (x,y) and (x2,y2), take the difference in the Ys and divide by the difference in the Xs

you have two points (-3, 5) and (2, 7), these two points have two componets the x value and the y value which are separated by a comma: (x,y). You only have to know the distance between the first y component and the second y component this is by substraction or difference: 7-5 = 2, then the same with the x components: 2--3 = 5, finally you divide these values you got: 2/5
