Hydroelectric power means power that is generated through the gravitational force of water - either falling water or water in flow. It is the most common type of renewable energy, harnessing something that usually occurs naturally. However, water is often diverted (such as with dams) which can disrupt the natural flow or artificially produce waterfalls and such.
