Determine if the two lines in each problem below are parallel.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the slopes are the same, then they are parallel

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7x-2(x+3)=5y-x and -6x=1-5y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they want you to work for this one huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the slopes are parallel correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no no i made a mistake! hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh whoops.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[7x-2(x+3)=5y-x\] \[7x-2x-6=5y-x\] \[5x-6=5y-x\] \[5y=6x-6\] slope is \[\frac{6}{5}\] for the first line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Had me worried for a second there. y=(6x+6)/5 and y=(6x+1)/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[-6x=1-5y \] \[5y=6x+1\] slope is \[\frac{6}{5}\] for second line as well, so slopes are equal and therefore lines a parallel

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have never seen you make a mistake satellite lol.

Humans make mistake :)

He is human? Whatt!?
