Imagine you are teaching a fellow student how to solve: 4 − (x + 2) = 6 − 5(x + 4)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

soo, teach me :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i new how to do this crap i wouldnt need this website for help...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, im sure this question doesnt exist in a vacuum. You have been exposed to the material that it comes from; so give it your best shot and lets see where you are having troubles with it then.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i dont pay attention in math and have no idea where to even begin in this

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a good place to begin might be to get rid of those paranthesis so that we can move things around freely. To do that we would have to multiply the value on the outside that is attached to it thru the (....)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why why why "dont pay attention in math"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because math is my worst subject and even when i do pay attention its so difficult for me that i just cant do it. literally just like cant do it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

I dont think siderealing the the question will help to focus the question thats been posted.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you know how to multiply, divide, add and subtract; then you can certainly accomplish a solution to this. all you have to do is keep a few rules of algebra in mind to guide you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i already submitted the question in my work but thank you guys anyways.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

those rules are: add when you can add; multiply when you can multiply; and distribute what needs to be distributed

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, if you still want to work thru the problem, feel free :)
