What function is represented on the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looks like an exponential function maybe \[f(x)=e^x+1\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no that is not right, we have to look closer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These are my options A) f(x) = 1/3^x + 1 B) f(x) = 1/3^x - 1 C) f(x) = 3x - 1 D) f(x) = 3x + 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

horizontal asymptote is \[y=1\] so we know it is \[f(x)=a\times b^x+1\] now we need a and b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then i would guess at \[f(x)=3^x+1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright, thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looks good since \[f(0)=2\] and \[f(1)=4\]
