I have seen an answer of vector unit in my book, but sumthing i don understand about it. the situation is sumthing like this: AB = (2i + 2J)/(8^0.5) but y the answer symplify the answer to AB = (i+j)/(2^0.5) the magnitude is different in this 2 answer right?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

(2i/(8^0.5) + 2J/(8^0.5)) 8^0.5 = 2sqrt(2) so you have i/sqrt(2)+j/sqrt(2)

i know how to simplyfy it, but isn't different magnitude mean different vector?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

for magnitue ( (1/sqrt(2))^2 + (1/sqrt(2))^2)^(1/2) = 1

OpenStudy (experimentx):

yeah .. but the magnitude is same for these two vectors

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i get, miss-concept a bit

OpenStudy (experimentx):

on simplification ... magnitude of vector does not change
