What is centre of gravity ? and how to find the centre of gravity of regular shaped bodies

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cog is the portion of the body where the entire weight of the body is supposedly concentrated or weight mg of body acts thru this point if u pivot a body at its cog then there wud be no torque in the system

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for uniform bodies cog is at the centre of mass it is usually determined using integration of values using computers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

assuming the cog of bodies to be at the com position of com is given by: X(X co-ordinate)=(M1X1+M2X2+.....MnXn)/M1+M2+...MN similar procedure to find Y co-ordinate of com

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for triangle it is centroid circle geometric centre like that GEOMETRIC CENTRE serves as point of com

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For regularly shaped bodies, Center of gravity = Center of mass So, \[CoG=(m _{1}x _{1} + ... m _{n}x _{n}) / m _{1} + ... m _{n}\]
