A map has a scale of 1 cm : 20 km. Two cities are 2.5 cm apart on the map. To the nearest tenth of a kilometer, what is the actual distance corresponding to the map distance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if we know that for every 1cm on the map, there is really 20km of distance on land then we simply multiply 2.5 by 20 which gives us 50km apart.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[{1 cm \over 20 km} = {2.5 cm \over X km}\]

that's what i got, i guess the teacher typo'd on this assignment or something because my only answer choice in the 50's is 52 x_X
