Viola drives 200 meters up a hill that makes an angle of 9° with the horizontal. To the nearest tenth of a meter, what horizontal distance has she covered? (1 point) 1,262.8 m 200.4 m 197.5 m 31.3 m

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

imagine that this is a right triangle...the hypotenuse will become your slope (200m) and theta will be the inclination (9 degs) ...now you're looking for the side adjacent your angle..which is the horizontal distance covered. so to get the adjacent side you use cosine (theta) = Adjacent/Hypotenuse cos(9) = A/220 A = 220 cos(9) input that in the calculator to get your answer :)
