Dr. Patel wants his chemistrey class to prepar a 10ml mixture of 80% fluoride/20% peroxide the class is divided into pairs and assingsed to stations in the lab. At each station he places a solution mixture that is 60% floride/ 40% peroxide and a solution that is 100% fluoride. How much of the 100% fluoride do the students in his class need to add to 60%/40% mixture in order to get the desired mixture 80%/20%

Let x = the amount of 100% fluoride solution you need to add. 10ml is the original amount on solution So the total amount of solution after adding some 100% fluoride solution = 10ml + x The amount of fluoride after adding some 100% fluoride in the total amount of solution will = .8(10ml +x) The amount of fluoride in the original 10ml solution is .6(10ml)= 6ml So the total amount of fluoride in an 80% solution will = 6ml + x So our equation will be: 6ml + x = .8(10ml + x) So x= 10ml So we need to add 10ml of 100% fluoride solution
