The numerator is a difference of two square: (a^2-b^2)=(a+b)(a-b) For the denomiantor, you must factor it as well, find two numbers that multiply to be 36 and add up to be -12. Once the numerator and denomiator have been factored, you will see that a term will divide out, leaving you with your answer
