what is the difference between a voltaic cell and a battery? are they both the same or what?

OpenStudy (blues):

Voltaic cells don't have much to do with biology, unless you're talking about electrochemical differences in living systems. My understanding of it is that battery can consist of one or more voltaic cells, but you would probably get a better answer if you posted this question in physics. http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/Physics
