I can't understand this proof: =/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry Turing, I still don't get it.

hero (hero):

Level of difficulty increased when put in espanol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm writting the traslation Hero. wait.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let P a poin outside the line XY; PO a line perpendicular from P to XY, and PZ another line drawn from P to XY. Prove that PZ is not perpendicular to XY.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

TuringTest already helped me to prove it(He did it actually) but the thing is that I can't understand the proof that is given in the book.

OpenStudy (turingtest):

what is "recto" ?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

when it says "son rectos"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

recto = 90 degrees

OpenStudy (turingtest):

that's what I thought

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't get the line before the last one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh I think I get it =)!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The number 34 says. un angulo recto es la mitad de un angulo de lados colineales.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It was proved that the angle P'ZP has not colineal sides. and then proved that angle OZP is half angle P'ZP.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It proved that OZP is half of an angle that is not a 90º angle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I understand now but I'm still incapable of doing that kind of proofs by myself. =/

OpenStudy (turingtest):

It seems so excessive. I couldn't do the proof myself like this, you saw my way. I'm not so sure I care to do proofs like this frankly :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean by excesive?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

too much more work than is necessary/needed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you think I should study from another book instead?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

depends what you want to learn I guess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I want to learn geometry and learn how to make proofs.

OpenStudy (turingtest):

then I guess this is the kind of stuff you should be learning I'm not that rigorous myself good for you though ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well thank you then =). I hope to have learn by the end of this year. If everything goes right.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

one problem i see is that it is sideways

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry amistre64. =/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I couldn't fix that quickly

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i think this is a rendition of euclids elements

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a rendition?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually I wanted to study Ecuclid's elements. But I started doing this book before. So I don't want to start again.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

http://aleph0.clarku.edu/~djoyce/java/elements/bookI/propI12.html they might give you some insight into it tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wooww thank you amistre64!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

de nada
