1. For ABC, what is the value of cosC? 1. For ABC, what is the value of cosC?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

\[CosC= \frac{adjacent \ side}{hypotenuse}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The choices are 0.5, 0.6, 0.8, and 0.9

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

We aren't going to tell you the answer, only how to solve the question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to solve the problem though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.8 100% ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks alirezamemarian!

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

alirezamemarian you should read the Code of Conduct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The way I see it the figure is drawn to scale...then Diyadiya's answer should help you further.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Nice job giving him the answer, but are you going to do that for the rest of his life?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

That's why we teach people how to do things instead of give them the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to all! ok yes! sorry! it`s better that we show the way of solve, not give them the answer, yes? :)

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree that someone should of showed me how, but No One did.

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

We were trying to show you ,But someone just gave you the final answer and you were happy with it If you want to know how i can help you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and @ inkyvoyd - I am a girl. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would love to know how.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn't want @ali to think I didn't appreciate their help.

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

ok \[CosC= \frac{adjacent \ side}{hypotenuse} \] Do you know which is adjacent side and hypotenuse ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I do.

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

So what do you get now ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean?

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

\[CosC= \frac{adjacent \ side}{hypotenuse}\] To find Cos we divide adjacent side by Hypotenuse Which is adjacent side and hypotenuse in the figure ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The hypotenuse is the AC line and the adjacent sides are the other sides AB and BC

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

Okay Hypotenuse is AC and value of AC is also given in the fig which is 90 Here since we are finding Cos C , adjacent side is the side adjacent to angle C ,Which is BC and value of BC is 72

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

Now can you find CosC ? just divide adjacent side by hypotenuse

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

thats is \[\frac{BC}{AC}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 0.8? 72/90

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

Yes ! Right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks. i didn't know it was that simple. I couldn't find out how to do it in my book. Thanks for showing me how to do it.

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

Glad to help :) and you can keep this in mind while doing these kind of problem Sine is Opposite over Hypotenuse Cosine is Adjacent over Hypotenuse Tangent is Opposite over Adjacent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks for the help!! ;)

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

Anytime :)
