Torque problem

OpenStudy (calculator):

A rigid L-shaped lever arm is pivoted at point P. Three forces act on the lever arm, as shown in the diagram. What is the magnitude of the resultant moment of these forces about point P?

OpenStudy (calculator):

@Diyadiya @pratu043 @Mani_Jha @salini @JamesJ

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

anti clockwise torque: 5N * 2m = 10 Nm 10N * 2m = 20 Nm total= 30 Nm clockwise torque: 15 N * 3m = 45 Nm net torque= 45-30 = 15 Nm clockwise

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wat have u figured out in the problem calculator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ujjwal check ur anti-clockwise torques 10N X 4m

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

@salini the perpendicular distane between 10 N force and point P is 2 m.. see the figure carefully.. that is the part where most of us makes mistakes.. it is 10 N * 2m..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ye torque=r X F =rfsin@ thank u for correcting me
