The speed limit on many highways is 70 miles per hour. When Carrie and her mom travel from Tallahassee to Jacksonville, her mom drives with an average speed of 70 miles per hour on the highway. In one hour, how many kilometers do Carrie and her mom travel? Round your answer to the nearest whole number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does anyone know how to get that answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

follow this http://www.interstate-guide.com/i-010.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need the answer to the question not the that

OpenStudy (callisto):

you need to know that speed = distance / time you now get speed = 70 miles per hour and time = 1 hour Put the numbers into the formula 70 = distance / 1 So can you work out the answer?

OpenStudy (radar):

Step one: Calculate the distance she travels in miles. Then convert the distance in miles to distance in km. Find the conversion for miles to km. Having spent 3 years in germany, I know that the km is less than a mile, so your answer in km will be larger than the number of miles.

mph: kph 10: 16 15: 24 20: 32 25: 40 30: 48 35: 56 40: 64 45: 72 50: 80 55: 89 60: 97 65: 105 70: 113 75: 121 80: 129 85: 137 90: 145 kph: mph 10: 6 20: 12 30: 19 40: 25 50: 31 60: 37 70: 43 80: 50 90: 56 100: 62 110: 68 120: 75 130: 81 140: 87 150: 93 Algebraic Steps / Dimensional Analysis 1 mi/hr * 5280 ft/hr 1 mi/hr * 1 m/hr 3.2808 ft/hr * 1 km/hr 1000 m/hr = 1.609344 km/hr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 113 km

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[1 mi/hr * 5280 ft/hr 1 mi/hr * 1 m/hr 3.2808 ft/hr * 1 km/hr 1000 m/hr = 1.609344 km/hr \]

OpenStudy (radar):

Or do it that way, convert speed to km/hr and then in hour you will have the distance in km!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank u i got it all i had to do was convert

OpenStudy (radar):

Excellent, good luck with your studies.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i just go this its really helpful
