If given the simple harmonic motion equation d=5sin(pi/4t), find the period. I know how to find the amplitude, but I can't remember how to find the period.

The period of sin(t) is 2pi The period of sin(at) is 2pi/a The period of sin(pi/4 t) is (2pi)/(pi/4)=8, if i understand your question correctly
