Just bought a refurbished computer with ubuntu 11.04 installed as the OS. However when i try to install some software, it is asking for a password to authenticate the user. i have no password. what is the possible solution to this problem?

do you have user? does it have password? is that user administrator?

i have user, it doesn't have any password. i mean when i start the computer the desktop is displayed automatically without asking for the password. it is the only user i have.
