Can you not think of one means of communication that we have today that did not exist 200 or 300 years ago?

RF wave propagation begins with electro magnetism.  you generate a voltage of a certain frequency and magnitude.  Then, through a complex process, this electromagnetic voltage is transmitted through an antenna out into space at 300 million meters per sec. approx.  Its then received by an antenna, amplified, separated from spurious freqs. and other "noise", modulated into a signal that is then interpreted by the intended receiver.  This may be your ears or a computer etc.  depending upon the signal. All of this, and many other phenomenon are possible only because of the mutual interaction between electricity and magnetism.
