After typing some code on Python 2.5.4 IDLE  it stop functioning & freezes.I am working on windows 7 Home premium.

Did you download the 64x installer? Also, the newest version that will work for the MIT intro class is 2.7. I'd suggest getting that, and getting the 64x installer for it here: http://www.python.org/getit/
