Perform the indicated operations. Simplify, and state the restrictions on the variable. 8/x+1 - 5/x+1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's 3/x+1 the restriction is if x=-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you find the restriction?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

same denominator.. then you just have to subtract the numerator to get 3/(x+1) but the denominator must not be equal to zero so the restriction is when x+1=0 x=-1

okay thankyou!
