Write the equation of the line that is perpendicular to the line y = 2x + 2 and passes through the point (6, 3). A. y = 2x + 6 B. y = - x + 3 C. y = - x + 6 D. y = 2x + 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perpendicular means has opp. reciprical slope. so : plug in the points..... the original eequation's slope is 2.(the number before the x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you want this new equation to have slope of -1/2. so it has to be B or C bec those are negative.. then find out which one has 1/2(even tho both look like they have -1 as the slope.

Directrix (directrix):

@1Omega9 --> Would you check the answer options? I have y = (-1/2) x + 6.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it C?
