Calculate the specific heat of a substance X if it takes 150.00 joules to raise 10.000 g of a sample 20.000 Degrees C

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

Do you know what is specific heat? Define it for me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first of all,you should know what is specific heat: in simple, the heat required to change the temperature of a 1 Kg substance by 1deg C or 1kelvin.then this heat is known as specific heat(S) of that substance. since for 1kg.....................S joule heat therfore for0.01kg..............0.01*S joule heat now ,for raising 1 degC.........0.01*S joule heat " " 20 degC........20*0.01*S joul heat Hence 20*0.01*S=150 find S.....
