OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there electric current inside atom?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i personally don't think that there is any electrical current in a STABLE atom.

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

electric current arises due to charge in motion.. inside an atom electrons revolve in orbits.. and since electrons are charged particles, their motion causes an electric current.. thus there is an electric current inside an atom.. P.S. this current also gives rise to magnetic field..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but electricity is due to a flow of electrons not just simply to motion of electrons because everything is and every particle is in motion relatively to a certain reference.

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

and to that reference there is electric current.. :)

OpenStudy (mos1635):

think small... suppose you are on the nuclear high above you electron travel like satelights every one of them is a charge in motion threw a imaginery tube=cable you have a electric current (as many as electron)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then they'll be flowing in your tube or cable.

OpenStudy (mos1635):

imaginery being the operative word..... no need to imagine any tube or cable i was trying to be more helpfull. "see" the moving electron..isn't that a moving chaarge? ther for current...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know and i followed it in what i was writting.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thnx alot frnz definatly we conder it as moving charge... which changes with respect to time and thus\[dq / dt \rightarrow current\] which means current give magnetic dipole and thus we consider it as current and magnetic dipole momnet is also considerd...:))
