What effect do antibiotics have on normal body cells? Explain your answer

OpenStudy (carniel):

Nothing really except affects immune system if you think about it. Anitbiotics only work on Bacteria to get rid of it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but doesnt it also affect the immune system to strengthen against what the antibiotic was trying to kill

OpenStudy (carniel):

Yes which is what I was trying to state in at the top, but really didnt know how to explain it :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well thanks bud for you help and always your reward.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Umm no? I think you're mixing the ideas of antibodies with antibiotics. Antibiotics are chemical compounds primarily used to kill off bacterial cells, without having an effect on eukaryotic cells. Antibodies are proteins that the body makes in response to pathogens / to protect it from pathogens. To my knowledge, although I welcome the correction if I'm wrong, they're somewhat mutually exclusive things.

antibiotics inhabit or kill other microorganisms or kill other microorganisms :)
