Find measure of x, picture shown below.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Let's say that the minor arc is x (well, that's labeled) and the major arc is y. Then, x+y=360 (y-x)/2=70 Solve for x, and you have what you want. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's 70? since 70 mult. by 2 but have to split equally between 7 and x =70?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because I had that but it's wrong,

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

No, x+y=360, according to my definiton of x and y, because they add up to a full circle. According to one of the theorems I don't remember the name, (y-x)/2 is equal to that angle tangent to the circle, i.e. 70 degrees. Solve the system of equations, and x is what you are looking for.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused on how to solve, I don't get what you're saying... like, how can I find both?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Do you understand what y is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is y the biggest arc?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and x is the middle one?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Yes. The second equation is derived from http://www.sparknotes.com/math/geometry2/theorems/section4.rhtml The bottom of it.
