What do you think?

8 pieces of wood,each measuring 3/4

Well, there is not enough wood to get 8 pieces each measuring 1 ft long. So, if you take the 7.5 ft of wood and divide evenly into 8 pieces, you will get 0.9 ft each and have 0.3 ft of wood left.
