Find the difference of (-5x^2 - x^3 - 3) - (9x^3 + 3x - 6x^2). Can someone also show me how their work and how to do it?

The first step is to open the brackets. One important thing to notice is the second bracket has a "-" before it, so all the terms will be multiplied by a -1 when it's opened
\[-5x^3-x^3-3+9x^3-3x+6x^2\]
Let's bring the like terms together ( terms with same powers of x)
\[-5x^3-x^3+9x^3+6x^2-3x-3\]
Let's combine the like terms, we get finally
\[\large 3x^3+6x^2-3x-3\]
