Choose one of these short pieces and do a short interpretation of it. 1.Captain Nemo's speech on the sea (part 1, chapter 10), "Yes, I love it! The sea is everything.... There I am free!" 2. Captain Nemo's speech on the Nautilus (part 1, chapter 12), "Yes, ... and I love it as if it were part of myself, ... for I am at once captain, builder, and engineer."

So... how can I get to the short pieces? Or do I just interpret the quotes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think you just interpret the quotes

Hmm... Well... The first quote is basically saying how the sea and ocean is everything to him. He thinks of it as sacred and when he's sailing on the ocean he can be himself. Think his own thoughts, say his own words, and do his own thing. The second quote is basically saying something similar. He thinks of the sea as part of his soul.
