Hmm... Well... The first quote is basically saying how the sea and ocean is everything to him. He thinks of it as sacred and when he's sailing on the ocean he can be himself. Think his own thoughts, say his own words, and do his own thing.
The second quote is basically saying something similar. He thinks of the sea as part of his soul.
