Why is conservation important today?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Conservation is important because if you do not conserve things you can waste a lot and it can pollute the community. You can run out of supplies quickly in a community if you are not careful in conserving things.

Look at it another way The world has a population that is continuously growing much larger with every generation, and the population is rapidly advancing towards not having enough to sustain itself. We're fixing to hit a huge crisis whenever there's simply not enough to support the population size. So conservation is necessary to try and not run out "things" so that way there isn't as great of a need for continuous new "stuff" that uses fresh resources each time.
